Co2 emission v.s GDP per capita
![]()
Hi, this is our homework for information design, to choose a visualization or graph and say why you liked it. I liked this graph, because I though it was pretty interesting. This graph compares the amount GDP per capita to the amount of CO2 gas emission in metric tons per capita. By looking at the graph closely, you see that the countries with higher GDP per capita has a higher production of CO2 gas emissions per metric ton.
Also, the size of the circle represents the different numbers of the population. The bigger the circle the larger the population. Though the population of each country doesn’t relate to either the GDP per capita or the C02 gas emission, but it’s always good to have some basic idea of how many people live in that particular country. Another great thing about this graph is that it categories the different countries into specific regions, allowing you to compare not only the GDP per capita & C02 gas emission at a global scale, but also in a regional scale. Usually, the countries of the same region are located at similar areas on the graph, but sometimes you would be surprised to find that the countries are located in the same region, but are located on drastically different places on the graph.
This graph is an excellent example of information design, not only does it represent one information, it presents a whole load of the on just one graph, but those information doesn’t make the graph unclear, and hard to read. The graphs constructed by this website called gapminder. org are very informative and educational, making us understand things on the global scale.
comments on the graph:interesting thing - Namibia has about the same GDP per capita and population as Bostwana (they are located in the same region), but they have different C02 gas emission numbers. BTW, there are more graphs/visualizations at gapminder.org… ^^~
Amy,
Great job on your analysis. I would like to hear more of your commentary on what you think of it rather than just how it works though.
Also, don’t forget to include paragraph breaks in your writing. It looks a little too crazy and confusing as one big block of text.
Good job.
Amy! You did a really good job on representing the graph :D!
Your thought was clearly represented and also easily understood.
Nice work !
