Here it goes… my annual report outline..

Here are the items that is going to be in my annual report:

1. music (last.fm)

2. what color top i wear each day

3. what kind of fruit i ate each day (going to be presented monthly)

4. what type of breakfast do I eat more (western or Chinese)

5. e-mail (# spasm, sent, received each month)

Music - would be taken care by last.fm

Clothes - http://www.unep.org/geo/geo4/media/graphics/Zoom/4.1.jpg (this kind of graph) Basically, I would represent the color of the tops that I wear each day by month. So, the graph would probably look like this: I would make a big graph of all the months ( the collaboration of the data from Feb, March, April, May), then there would be smaller graphs (those square ones) branching out of the big graph (probably).

Fruit - maybe an area graph that would be able to represent the amount of that particular fruit I ate. However, I had another idea; to represent the fruits using a ,ap of the world to show where the fruits come from and draw a line out showing the data (using a bar graph showing a collaboration of the months and the individual months), but I don’t know which one to choose. (I think the second option is better).

Breakfast - I am going to use a dot matrix chart. So, there would be 29, 30, 31 dots for each month and I would arrange it in a calendar way and use two colors to represent western and chinese food.

E-mail - I would like to use a bubble to represent the data. I would represent it monthly, so the first month the bubble would be the e-mail receive, then it would be the spasm mail, and then the sent mail. Then there would be a simple pie chart, showing the percentage of e-mails in my mail box. The simple chart would basically be like (I would calculate the total e-mail (spasm+sent+received+ and calculate the percentage of each of the mail messages. This graph would basically compare the amount of e-mail received each month. Maybe this is not the best idea, it’s too confusing, so I am still thinking about it.

CHANGES THAT I’VE MADE -

So, basically, you can see that the original copy of the poster is not very well designed and pasted. The information is randomly pasted onto the poster making it look messy and incomprehensible. Sometimes it is really difficult to understand what the original author is trying to inform his audience. The modifications I made is to place the title at the top of the page. Which makes it easy for people to known immediately what kind of a poster is he/she looking at.  Also, the author was comparing the weapons used in World War One, by the Central and Allied Power. He has got good information, however the whole poster needs to be redesigned. First, I divided the poster into threes. The first is the weapons used by the Central Power, the information and graph. The second category I placed the important terms, introduction and bibliography. Then the third category is the Allied Power weapons. graphs and information. Then I included only a picture. (Not to make the poster too messy). Also I made borders around the text and titles to make it more attention grabbing and interesting. It would be easier to read.

So, that’s basically it.

Hi! I’ve created my own font! I named it bubbles, because I think it looks kind of like a bubble.Anyways, here is a sample of this font..

 Through this exercise I learned how to make consistent letters. My hand drawn letters are usually messy and does not follow through the font structures. By using this program I was able to create a “font”. In this exercise I found that it was easier to construct some letters. Such as the letters, O,P,C,U, were the letters that I felt was easy to draw. The MOST DIFFICULT letters are, N,R,K, these are the letters that had “diagonals”. Because I choice to use squares to represent my letters, so i had to use triangles to construct the diagonals, which to me is really difficult!!!!!  

On thursday, we created our own font in class. I cam back to my blog to take a look at my font during the weekend.As an objective outsider I felt that my font look unprofessional and messy. It could be improved by forcing a more structured look on the font. Also, I feel that the strokes should follow a constant order and not be curved. In the beginning I chose to use curve lines, because I thought it would give an impression or give a neat composition. However, I still feel that this font would be suitable for making posters, because it is fat and big. Also, the legibility of this font is acceptable.  

The reason that I created this font is that I like fonts that is fat and round. I like fonts that are not messy and clear. Most “fat”fonts are pretty messy so I decided to create one that is “fat”, but clean. Another reason I created this font is that I feel that nicrosft word or other “word” programs don’t have a font that is suitable for posters. I have a tendency to print out big fonts and paste it on posters. Most of the fonts I print out doesn’t work well, to clearly present the information. This is the purpose of this font. The sort of theme or impression that I am trying to convey is “cute” and light-hearted theme. (I think) most people will feel that this font is very cute and funny. The main theme expressed by this font is trying to express a feeling of “childnessness” (no such word though). Also, I am trying to copy kid’s writing style.
